Prong Collar Training

What to do if a client doesn’t like the collar initially

We all know that the prong collar is not pretty and at first glance even looks a bit like a torture device, right? (Don’t say this to the client.)

But the benefits of the prong collar outweigh their ugly looks. When showing the collar to the client for the first time, the first thing you need to do is have them feel the prongs and you need to tell them that they aren’t sharp, won’t hurt their dog, and won’t stab or poke the dog.

The prong collar sits loosely on the neck and when the dog pulls on the leash, the dog will ultimately self correct, and that is the beauty of the collar. The collar gets rid of issues really fast, because the dog teaches himself in a lot of ways.
